All About Rachel

Originally from the sunny state of Florida, Rachel Madson (she/they) is a lover of all thing’s theater, both onstage and off. In 6th grade, they caught the ‘theater bug’ while watching a high school production of Les Misérables. They became a dedicated student of the arts, wanting to learn as much about it as possible, a character trait they still carry with them today.

In May of 2022, they graduated with honors with their BFA in Musical Theatre from Long Island University - Post. Taking full advantage of the curriculum at LIU, they studied many different acting styles such as Shakespeare, Meisner, and Suzuki. This allowed them to experiment and develop tools from each one to make them a dedicated multi-faceted actor. Vocal training was continued at LIU, with a focus on developing a diverse repertoire and ensuring a strong and health vocal technique for their 4-octave range.

Supplemental to their acting and voice training, they have been dancing for upwards of ten years, allowing them to be proficient in different styles of dance, including (but not limited to) Ballet, Theater, Jazz, and Modern. They also have training in more specialized styles of movement such as stage combat, yoga, and specific aerial apparatuses.

Something Rachel prides themselves on is having an experience with most forms of theater, in front of and behind the curtain. Throughout their college experience, they got the opportunity to design costumes, work as a director, hang lights, and stage manage. Experiencing every element of the theater that they could behind the scenes provided knowledge that assists them to be a more well-rounded and informed performer.

Beyond their credentials, Rachel is known for their optimistic attitude on life by their peers and colleges. Constantly commended on being a strong collaborator in the rehearsal space, Rachel is a hard-working artist, with a goal of being kind and focused on every project they have the opportunity to work on. When they aren’t on the stage, you can find Rachel re-watching their favorite movies for the hundredth time, going to central park with their friends, or looking up videos of their favorite animal, the stingray.

Rachel is currently on the hunt for their next project, excited to see where the industry takes them next.
